September 2001 Pet of the Month Piggy Sue
"Piggy Sue" Horn, a cute little female, 6 weeks old, pot bellied pig, was presented with anorexia and lethargy. She had been purchased 5 days prior.
She had a low-grade
fever but no respiratory symptoms or diarrhea, which are the most common problems of piglets.
She was treated with Amoxicillin and oral electrolytes. She was also placed back on milk replacement for a
few days and fed with a Playtex nipple bottle.
Piggy Sue thrived in her new home and was soon back for her vaccinations, Ovariohysterectomy and Microchipping.
Today she is a well-adjusted, healthy and happy little pig.
